Hi, I’m Matt Brady. I am a husband, pastor, and writer.
On this site, you will find my thoughts on God and what it means to “live faith on purpose”. It doesn’t have to be as complicated as we make it sometimes, but that doesn’t mean that “simple” equals easy!
What I Blog About
I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but I write about my thoughts on God and living faith on purpose.
You will find a variety of different topics discussed on this site, but they will always be written from a Christian worldview. I’m always looking for the practical and applicable takeaways, so look for those in every piece of content you find here.
Why I Blog
I am constantly looking at the world through eyes of faith.
I don’t claim to be normal, and I certainly don’t have all of the answers.
What I do know is that God created each one of us in His image, and it’s our responsibility to recognize what that looks like in each other.
God can be found in our day to day lives if we will only open our eyes enough to see Him.
The first book I remember purchasing with my own money was “Matilda” by Roald Dahl. I bought it at the school book fair in elementary school. I read that book so many times that I practically wore the cover off the thing.
I wrote my first book when I was in the fifth grade. Everyone in my class had to write and illustrate one, but it is still a strong memory from childhood.
I tried my hand at poetry during my high school years (thank you Robin Williams and the movie “Dead Poets’ Society”), but my creative outlet shifted to learning to play guitar and joining the theater department.
I played Bottom the Weaver in our production of Midsummer Night’s Dream during my junior year of high school. That was pretty magical.
I took up playing the guitar just before my sixteenth birthday, mostly on a whim. I was in the public library and the thought struck me that I could check out a book and learn how to play!
I started singing and playing guitar together in 1999 when my youth pastor decided to add some praise music to our weekly meetings.
Today I still use these skills in my role as worship arts pastor at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in Thomasville, NC, where I have been serving since 2013.
I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Amanda since 2006. We both completed the Bachelors in Accounting program at Guilford College in 2010, after taking night classes for two years. She went on to earn a Masters in Accounting from Liberty University, while I switched gears to pursue a Masters of Divinity from Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University. I finished my degree in April 2016.
We have two children, or at least that’s what we call them. Our German Shepherds Maxx and Wesley make every day an adventure, and they continually remind us of just what love and loyalty looks like.
