What I Blog About
On this site, you will find some of my faith words and fiction words, with the hopes that they will encourage you to live “godful”.
My beautiful wife Amanda and I. I clean up pretty good on occasion.
Why I Blog
I am constantly looking at the world through eyes of faith.
I don’t claim to be normal, and I certainly don’t have all of the answers.
What I do know is that God created each one of us in His image, and it’s our responsibility to recognize what that looks like in each other.
God can be found in our day to day lives if we will only open our eyes enough to see Him.
We had portraits done, and this one is one of my favorites. I mean, I got to play my guitar while having pictures taken!

My Biography (the long version)
The things I remember most about my life revolve around faith and creative things.
I remember asking Jesus into my heart around the age of seven at a Church of God camp meeting “children’s church” service. The messages that night (as presented by a variety of various colored puppets) had something to do with Jesus, but what I remember most was hearing that it was wrong to chew gum during church (apparently it’s disrespectful).
The first book I remember purchasing with my own money was “Matilda” by Roald Dahl. I bought it at the school book fair in third or fourth grade. I read it so many times that I practically wore the cover off the thing. I still have that book.
I tried my hand at poetry during my high school years (thank you Robin Williams and the movie “Dead Poets’ Society”), but my creative outlet shifted to the high school theater department. I played Bottom the Weaver in our production of Midsummer Night’s Dream during my junior year of high school. That was magical.
I took up playing the guitar just before my sixteenth birthday, mostly on a whim. I was in the public library and the thought struck me that I could check out a book and learn how to play! I started singing and playing guitar together in 1999 when my youth pastor decided to add some praise music to our weekly meetings.
Today I still use these skills in my role as worship arts pastor at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in Thomasville, NC, where I have been serving since 2013.
I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Amanda since 2006. We both completed the Bachelors in Accounting program at Guilford College in 2010, after taking night classes for two years. She went on to earn a Masters in Accounting from Liberty University, while I switched gears to pursue a Masters of Divinity from Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University. I finished my degree in April 2016.
We have three children, or at least that’s what we call them. Our doggies Maxx, Wesley, and BB8 make every day an adventure, and they continually remind us of just what love and loyalty looks like.
